This year the English program is going to come out of the new reading series just as spelling is. When the students read a story, we will practice English skills that go along with that story. They will be graded on daily work, quizzes and tests from that series. The students will also be doing DOL, which stands for daily oral language, each week. They will take a quiz every Friday over the week's sentences.
Every week the students will also be doing some form of writing. The topics will align to what they are studying in science, social studies or reading. They will write for a variety of purposes as well to better prepare them for what is ahead in junior high.
