All students are required to keep a
binder in math class. This binder is to include all notes taken in class
and all homework assignments. Students must bring this binder, loose-leaf
paper, pencil, and red pen to class daily. The notes from class must
include the lesson heading, any vocabulary/notes, and class examples.
Students must use a pencil in math class, do assignments
neatly and show all work and/or steps used in working the problem.
Students will lose credit for not showing their work, forgetting labels,
etc. Problems will be marked wrong for things that change the value of the
answer like forgetting to include a decimal point, placing a decimal point
in the wrong place, etc.
There will be homework daily. I believe
homework is meant for practice of the daily lesson. In most cases, I will
not grade homework, but it must be completed for class discussion the next
day. Grading is based on student performance on mainly chapter
tests/quizzes, but is also from performance on binder quizzes, and some
homework assignments.
