TURN BACK THE CLOCK IN AGS HISTORY

AGS turns back the clock 20 years to the 1988 boys basketball team.  This team was the first to make a trip to state.   The '88 squad amassed a record of 18-5 on the season while claiming the St. Augustine Tournament championship and 2nd in the conference.   The team also won the school's first regional title with wins over Oakdale and St. Libory at Coulterville, but fell short to Waltonville at Rend Lake.  The Eagles lost 44-42 in their first game at state.  Key players on the team were Coach Craig Zurliene, Chris Huelsmann, Brian Bair, Kurt Rakers, Mr. Jason Rakers, Jay Mueller, and Patrick Foppe.

AGS turns back the clock 30 years to the 1978 boys basketball team.  This team was the first team to go undefeated.  Collecting 22 wins with no losses, the '78 boys won the Bartelso Invitational and the Clinton-Madison Conference Tournament.  Key members of the team were Ed Stockman, Dale Markus, Gerry Lager, Joe Strubhart, John Reilman, Carlin Mueller, & Al Koerkenmeier.
