*Anyone
who wishes to use the school gym must read, meet the School Board policies, and
sign the following forms. 1. Good grades in school. Currently that means no “F”s on weekly, mid-term or quarter grade check. Grades are #1 and sports are #2. Failure to meet this requirement results in a week off the team. Players may not attend games or practices. Grades are checked at the end of every week. 2. Good behavior in school, at school events, and outside of school on the streets. You are representing yourself and Aviston. 3. You must make all practices and games. Missed practices can hurt playing time and are not allowed unless you are sick, have an important medical appointment or important family event to attend. You must notify your coach IN ADVANCE upon any absence. 4. Good team attitude. Each player and season has ups and downs. 5. Total effort in practices and games. Practice time often determines playing time in games. 6. Keep yourself under control, physically, and mentally. No temper tantrums! 7. RESPECT for other players and other teams. We will not talk to our opponents in a disrespectful manner. Respect is very important and it is something you earn. We will win and lose with respect for our opponents. 8. Practice on your own time. Personal practice outside of practice is essential to become a good athlete in any sport. School will not provide enough practice time to make you great. 9. Playing time will never be equal among players. Other Important Issues: 1. Every sport will have players who do not play much. What can you do about it? Work harder in practice to try to get in. Cheer on the players who are playing, wait for your chance, and remember, all of you are part of the Aviston Eagles team. Your teammates are part of a new family you will have during the season. 2. The amount of playing time often depends on the following: · Hard work and good use of practice time · Ability · Attitude & ability to work with teammates · Amount of practices attended 3. The final decision who plays is made by the coach. If you disagree with who is playing, please talk to the coach at the appropriate time. Directly after a tough game is not the appropriate time. Coaches have to make the tough decisions about who plays. They must look out for the interest of the TEAM and the future of the program. They want what is best for the future of the program. 4. Please contact the athletic director with any comments or concerns. We are always looking for ways to improve our athletic program and build on our successful tradition. Sincerely, Jason Rakers Athletic Director |
