Course Description:  Language Arts is a course devoted to the study of the English language via lessons in grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and written composition.
 

Grades/Grading Scale:  Grades will be determined by homework (15%), tests (15%), in-class assignments/discussions (25%),  and written compositions (45%).


93-100=A, 85-92=B, 75-84=C, 67-74=D, 66 and below=F
 

Late Assignments/Make-Up Work:  All assignments must be turned in on time to receive full credit.  Three missing assignments in one quarter warrants an assignment detention.  Each additional missing assignment, after the third, is a detention.
Major projects will be docked one letter grade per day, for every day  it is late.  After reaching 66 or fewer points, 10 points per day will be deducted from the final grade.
 

Guidelines for Written Assignments:  All work shall be completed in pencil, black or blue ink, or typed, double-spaced.  The student's full name, class period, and date should appear in the upper right hand corner of the first page.  Illegible work will not be accepted.
Each student is responsible for taking his/her own notes in class.
 

Homework Assignments:  Homework assignments cover material presented in class or as a reading assignment to be discussed in the next class period.  Homework is always checked and errors are corrected and explained.
 

Classroom Expectations:

bulletSit quietly in assigned seat immediately after entering the classroom.
bulletDo not mark or write on desks.
bulletDo not mark or write on yourselves or classmates.
bulletCheating will not be tolerated.
bulletTreat yourselves and others with respect at all times.
