Course
Description: Language Arts is a course devoted to the study of the
English language via lessons in grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and written
composition.
Grades/Grading Scale: Grades will be determined by homework
(15%), tests (15%), in-class assignments/discussions (25%), and written
compositions (45%).
93-100=A, 85-92=B, 75-84=C, 67-74=D, 66 and below=F
Late Assignments/Make-Up Work: All assignments must be turned
in on time to receive full credit. Three missing assignments in one
quarter warrants an assignment detention. Each additional missing
assignment, after the third, is a detention.
Major projects will be docked one letter grade per day, for every day
it is late. After reaching 66 or fewer points, 10 points per day will
be deducted from the final grade.
Guidelines for Written Assignments: All work shall be completed
in pencil, black or blue ink, or typed, double-spaced. The student's full name,
class period, and date should appear in the upper right hand corner of the
first page. Illegible work will not be accepted.
Each student is responsible for taking his/her own notes in class.
Homework Assignments: Homework assignments cover material
presented in class or as a reading assignment to be discussed in the next
class period. Homework is always checked and errors are corrected and
explained.
